{"id":2,"date":"2011-01-09T03:54:06","date_gmt":"2011-01-09T03:54:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/64.85.4.76\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2011-05-21T08:08:37","modified_gmt":"2011-05-21T08:08:37","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/chrissyinmali.esox.net\/index.php\/about\/","title":{"rendered":"About Me and Keeping in Touch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/chrissyinmali.esox.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/IMG_3021a.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-21\" style=\"border: 5px;\" title=\"Chrissy\" src=\"http:\/\/chrissyinmali.esox.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/IMG_3021a-300x297.jpg\" alt=\"Chrissy\" width=\"210\" height=\"208\" srcset=\"http:\/\/chrissyinmali.esox.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/IMG_3021a-300x297.jpg 300w, http:\/\/chrissyinmali.esox.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/IMG_3021a-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/chrissyinmali.esox.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/IMG_3021a.jpg 525w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 210px) 100vw, 210px\" \/><\/a>I will be in Mali in the Peace Corps for the next two years working in Agriculture and Environmental Development.\u00a0 This blog will chronicle my adventures, thoughts, and events while I am gone.\u00a0 I hope you enjoy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">One of the most common questions I have been asked is how to keep in touch.\u00a0 While I will be quite far away, there are still many ways to keep in touch.\u00a0 I will have a cell phone in Mali, and you are welcome to call me\/text me (email me if you want the number).\u00a0 Email is another popular option (cschell2@gmail.com).\u00a0 I will likely be able to check my email every few weeks.\u00a0 My favorite option is letters via post (c&#8217;mon, in a depressed economy, help out the post office!)\u00a0 My address is:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; padding-left: 240px;\">Chrissy Scheller, PC<br \/>\nCorps de la Paix<br \/>\nB.P. 75<br \/>\nSan, Mali<br \/>\nWEST AFRICA<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Some tips for sending letters and packages are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Send postcards in envelopes.<\/li>\n<li>Number your letters and packages so I know if I missed one.<\/li>\n<li>Padded envelopes are a lot cheaper to send than boxes.\u00a0 The pre-paid boxes are cheapest in terms of boxes, but it&#8217;s all expensive.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t feel obligated to send me things.<\/li>\n<li>Write &#8216;air mail&#8217; or &#8216;par avion&#8217; on all envelopes\/packages.<\/li>\n<li>Write that all packages are gifts or school supplies and are worth nothing.<\/li>\n<li>Write religious symbols (crosses) and\/or that packages contain religious materials to deter theft.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>What to send me, if you are so inclined:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Parmesan Cheese! (The green Kraft ones work well, but others have received regular shredded in a bag and it&#8217;s been fine.) (This is hands down the most important food stuff not available in country.)<\/li>\n<li>Sauces in packets (American food tastes good regardless of quality here.)<\/li>\n<li>Boxes of packaged food that can be made via stove top<\/li>\n<li>Salty snacks<\/li>\n<li>Chips and crackers(!)<\/li>\n<li>Good jam<\/li>\n<li>Nuts that are not peanuts<\/li>\n<li>Raisins, craisins, dried apricots, dried sour cherries<\/li>\n<li>Oat bran<\/li>\n<li>Chocolate (even if it melts, it is still heavenly.\u00a0 Pack in a ziplock so it doesn&#8217;t ruin other things.)<\/li>\n<li>Swedish fish<\/li>\n<li>Tootsie Rolls<\/li>\n<li>Peanut M&amp;Ms (or if you really love me Peanut BUTTER M&amp;Ms)<\/li>\n<li>Post cards\/ pictures of yourself\/ things to hang on my wall<\/li>\n<li>Books (need more direction? Just ask.)<\/li>\n<li>Granola\/Muesli<\/li>\n<li>Couscous<\/li>\n<li>Bulgur<\/li>\n<li>Lentils<\/li>\n<li>Cookies (should probably be first on the list)<\/li>\n<li>Logic Puzzles<\/li>\n<li>Trivia<\/li>\n<li>NY Times crosswords<\/li>\n<li>Sudoku<\/li>\n<li>The Economist<\/li>\n<li>Fascinating news articles (even if they&#8217;ll be old by the time I receive them)<\/li>\n<li>Campaign news (as the 2012 elections heat up)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I will be in Mali in the Peace Corps for the next two years working in Agriculture and Environmental Development.\u00a0 This blog will chronicle my adventures, thoughts, and events while I am gone.\u00a0 I hope you enjoy.
